Rest in Peace, Yulanda

Hello all, my name is Wayne and I am Yulanda's "favourite person". What follows is a message on behalf of Yulanda's father:

Our loving daughter, Yulanda Yee (just turned 28) has lost her second battle with lymphoma cancer on Feb 11/2010. She passed away at 6 p.m. in a palliative home on the second day after being transferred from Princess Margaret Hospital where she had many short and long stays.

She was only nine when first diagnosed with this disease. With unbelievable courage, she fought it for about one and a half to two years and was free for 18 years. With a vengeance, the disease came back in June 2009. It finally took her young life after months of furious combat.

I wish there are words to express my thanks and gratitude to my wife, Helen, who provided 24-hour personal-care, support, and encouragement during months of difficult times.

We also have much thanks for her sweetheart, Wayne, who fought alongside her to the end. It is him who gave Yulanda a worthy reason to live and the desire to beat this battle.

We cannot be over-grateful to our family (father, mother, brothers, sisters, cousins...) for their infinite physical and emotional support and encouragement.

As parents of this shy girl, we were astonished by the number of friends she has. Everyday, while in the hospital, she had the most number of visiting friends on the whole floor. Each came with kindness, encouragement and support. And many brought cards, books, videos, magazines, dolls, soups, drinks, food and food and food. As a matter of fact, her room often looked like a grocery store. THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING OUR DAUGHTER'S GOOD FRIENDS.

Also, we'd like to thank those who posted many kind words and appreciation for her work, as a person and as a friend.

Funeral service for Yulanda Yee will be at 10:45 am (viewing 10 am-10:45 am) on Sat, Feb 20/2010 at:

During an afternoon drive on a warm November Saturday afternoon with my favourite person, we ended up in Goodwood where we came across the bakery, Annina's Bakeshop. We left with only a butter tart and cookie, but they were so good it prompted us to go back the next weekend to pick up some treats for our families.

A few weeks ago, I ate at Famous Sam's. When I was little, my family would eat at this diner on & off, then for a number of years we forgot about it. This year for Father's Day, my dad decided to have lunch there and it was then I was reminded why I enjoyed eating there as a child. Pictured above is a steak sandwich with fries and a chicken noodle soup from my more recent visit.

On the topic of forgotten things, these were shot with my Lomo LC-A, which I haven't used in years (though not quite as long as the last time I ate at Famous Sam's before this year).

Lunch was at Tofu Village today. So delicious and perfect on a chilly fall day. I am trying to get in the habit of taking pictures regularly again. I can't believe it'll be October tomorrow.

A mini health update:
Round four of R-CHOP14 chemotherapy was completed yesterday. Earlier this afternoon I had a lumbar puncture (I had both fluid collected and chemo injected). Not the most fun thing in the world. I hope I have enough energy to fulfill my weekend plans. I've been feeling pretty good the last couple of weeks, but I am tired today. I suppose today's events combined with waking up at 6:30am will do that to me.
