JNBY, Since 1994
Wednesday, June 10, 2009 7:20 PM

During a day trip to Shenzhen, I ducked into a department store to seek refuge in air conditioning. It was there that I discovered JNBY, a brand that hails from Hangzhou, China. I was drawn to the boutique because the style was very different from the other boutiques in the department store. At first glance, the clothes seemed relatively simple, but upon closer inspection I could see the uniqueness of the cutting.
After trying on a few pieces where the salesgirls (dressed in awesome uniforms) fawned over me (I felt like a model with two stylists), I ended up leaving with a copy of the lookbook (seen in this post) and a dress (which will be posted later).
JNBY has one store in Canada -- in Vancouver to be exact. Hopefully one day they'll migrate east.

I love randomly finding new things! I'm actually going to be in China for at least a month. So far, I'm thinking Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and any where else I can fit in. My family is from outside Guangzhou. I'm excited to actually do some shopping and stuff, since the first time I went back I had to do a ton of family stuff...

I have no clue what it was called or where it is! However, I was given a card with a list of all their SZ shops. I will dig it out + scan + send to the email you commented with.

Yes! I really like their stuff! They actually have two stores in BC. One in metrotown in Burnaby, and one in Tinsletown in Vancouver. That reminds me I should check it out again for some summer clothes!

these are amazing. they are pieces i'd gladly wear on their own. love them! and want them all!
on the one hand, i love how attentive the customer service in asia is but on the other it's annoying to have people swarm around you as soon as you enter a shop. Sometimes you want to just shop in peace.

Luckily they let me shop in peace until I asked to try a skirt on. I've noticed during this trip to Asia that most of the salespeople (other then skin care & cosmetic shops) now let me shop in peace! Such a change from my first visit there in 2004!

They don't, unfortunately. They used to have one location in TST, but it's since been closed (I even went to take a look -- it's an empty store now).

Those all look like lovely pieces! I had no idea this store existed in Vancouver.. it looks like they'll be opening one in Toronto soon though, judging by the website. :)

Thank you for these photos, Yulanda! You're right about the cutting. I love the calmness of the color vs. the drama of the silhouettes and draping. My fave is the second look.

I got something new for everyone here -- JNBY just opened a new store in South Granville St. and it looks fabulous!!! - I bet you can't find any store like that within the area. Plus, their new Summer collection just arrived with tons of original designs, I have to say the store is a must for every cute girl in Vancouver.

Hey there, I believe JNBY fan was referring to South Granville St. in Vancouver, Canada and not Granville Road in TST, HK.

I love the styles and the colors... I'm mostly a black/gray/white person. The cut of the clothes are unique. You wouldn't worry about bumping into another person wearing the same clothes as yours.

There are several stores in Vancouver (and surrounding area) now. The clothing is very unique and quite amazing, but you need to be sure you love it when you buy it. Their return and exchange policy is so inflexible and unclear, that in the end, if you change your mind, it will be an unpleasant experience. One that will make me think five times about going in again.
