Top: Lux (Urban Outfitters). Gold birds on a twig necklace: Moss Mills. Brown skirt: H&M. Green patterned tights: Dragon Centre (Hong Kong). Black suede wedge sandals: Seychelles (via Solestruck).

Recently I found a new woodsy area nearby while poking around Google Maps. It's still cold enough that the mosquitoes and other stingy bugs have yet to come out and play. I wish I brought my tripod even though it's heavy and somewhat broken. I had trouble finding elevated things stable enough to rest my camera on.

As for the outfit, I mixed my new shoes with an old top (circa 2001) for a friend's birthday. I originally put on my striped tee, but felt very autumny.

The 2nd picture is lovely. The top definitely was a good choice.

Thank you. Yesterday was definitely a time I was grateful for my pack rat tendencies and holding onto things for too long. I hadn't worn that top in years, but with that skirt, it was just right.

oh wow, this place looks beautiful. there's nothing like that near where i live :(

yulanda replied to ohphilippa | 2009-04-18 08:37 PM | Reply

Unfortunately I could see some of the houses & offices depending which direction I looked :( However, there's quite a bit of forest around where I live, but it does require a car ride there.

I really like this location, that tree is lovely! I love the shot of the pebbles and your green tights.

It's a fact. Those shoes are beyond cute.

This is a really nice place to take pictures, I like a lot the picture of you in the trees. The sandals & green tights are beautiful, nice contrast with the little rocks !

I echo all the comments about the top. I adore it and it looks great with the skirt.

(Wait a second...) Is this across from my house?

rain | 2009-04-19 08:39 AM | Reply

Hi Yulanda, I came by after I read your comment on Sabrina's blog (Professionally Trendy) I think your blog is great & the pictures are beautiful! You even climb into the tree to capture that beautiful pic! :D xoxo

I agree with Lady Melbourne. At first glance, I thought this was an editorial...

And I'm shocked that you were able to find a nice woodsy area in - gasp! - Toronto!

Your pictures are gorgeous.

How do you edit them to make them look kind of polaroidish?

yulanda replied to Chester | 2009-04-19 06:41 PM | Reply

Thank you. I don't have a set technique. I just play around until I get the results I like. I wasn't even going for the Polaroid look :P

Alison | 2009-04-19 10:10 PM | Reply

These photos are wonderful (as always). I went into the woods the other day to take photos and kept kicking myself for being lazy and not getting my tripod...fallen down trees and rocks don't work out too well.
Let's hope the mosquitoes don't come out for a while....haha

The Clothes Horse | 2009-04-19 11:09 PM | Reply

So pretty--that spread of flowers especially! What did people do before Google maps?

yulanda replied to Alison | 2009-04-20 11:26 AM | Reply

Thank you.
Yes! Hopefully the mosquitoes stay away for a bit longer. Otherwise I will get eaten alive :\

Gorgeous- I'm always so drawn to slightly washed out, desaturated photos. The top one is my new desktop!

the venture out was well worth it, wonderful pictures! are those daisies in the first photo? in absolute awe, i've only seen daisies in bunches sold in florists.

yulanda replied to melly | 2009-04-22 02:11 AM | Reply

Thank you! I'm not sure what kind of flowers they were. But I was there the day before and they seemed to have bloomed overnight.

I'm sure you probably hear this often, but your photos have a haunting quality to them. They're wonderful! I don't know what you do for your profession, but do you ever submit your photos to galleries or something like that?

yulanda replied to Moni | 2009-04-24 06:55 PM | Reply

Thank you, Moni. Currently I don't submit to galleries or anything like that, but I really need to get my act together and start doing so.
