Street Chic
Thursday, February 26, 2009 10:58 PM

The March 2009 issue of Harper's Bazaar contains a myriad of photo stories. My favourite is the one above -- Street Chic shot by the great Peter Lindbergh featuring a bunny suit wearing Robert Buckley (does anyone else miss Lipstick Jungle?). The composition of the blue umbrella photo is perfect.

Tubing It
Wednesday, February 25, 2009 11:00 PM

Three months ago, Matchstick offered to send me a tube of L'oreal's Double Extend Beauty Tubes to try. The tubing technology reminded me of Blinc Kiss Me Masara (which I've yet to try) so I was intrigued.
After using this mascara on & off for the last few weeks I came to realize I only like using the second step of this two-step mascara. Adding the first step (white base coat) made my lashes look a bit spidery and spider legs attached to my eyes is not a good look. Step two alone gave the illusion of my lashes but better, which is what I essentially aim for in an everyday mascara. Plus it held my curl and didn't give me panda eyes by the end of the day.
Beauty Tubes is advertised as a lengthening formula, but I didn't notice an increase in length with or without the base coat. My lashes are long though, so perhaps I've reached my maximum potential for length through both natural and artificial means. However, other bloggers had success with the mascara's lengthening properties.
Overall, I'm indifferent towards this mascara. If you plan to try it, you can sign up for a $5 off coupon on the Beauty Tubes website. See below for details.

Everyone I've shown these Aldo shoes to have given me unfavourable reactions. I'm beginning to think I'm the only person who likes them.

Three Tier Coat

Purchased this from H&M a couple weeks ago. My favourite was the red version, but the colour simply did not go with my wardrobe.

Thank You
Monday, February 23, 2009 3:39 AM

Thank you for all the kind words left on my previous entry. I really, really appreciate each comment. I know every blogger says this, but I seriously have the best readers ever. Hopefully Joys is doing what she enjoys most up in puppy heaven; chasing birds in big fields with her brothers, Tim (above, left) and the big brown dog seen in the last post.

My dearest dog was laid to rest on Thursday morning after being a part of my life for 17.5 years. I read that her breed (English Setter) typically lives for 12 years so I feel blessed that she gave me an extra 5.5 years. Although she was officially my dad's dog, she favoured me the most and was always one step behind me (even during all the visits to the breeder's before she came home with us). She was the best.

Erin Fetherston FW2009

Erin Fetherston brought The Nutcracker's toys to life in her new fall collection. I love it, though I've had a soft spot for the story since I was four. In senior kindergarten, I pledged my allegiance to the Mouse King and fought tin soldiers for the annual school Christmas concert. Too bad I didn't have one of those dresses to go with my mouse ears and gold foiled sword.

Fifi et LeSportSac

Never having been a big fan of LeSportsac, I suddenly find myself taken by this Fifi Lapin for LeSportsac tote. How cute is it? I also love that there are blogger collaborations happening.

Anthropologie Toronto

Wikipedia is like a Choose Your Own Adventure book. All these links to click that take me to another page and another page of random (and sometimes useless) bits of information. It's a great way to kill time while battling a bout of insomia and doing just that I came across a tidbit that made me even more wide awake -- Anthropologie opening in Toronto!
Upon googling I found out the store's move to the North was announced last fall. I blame the rock I have the tendency to hide under. Am I the last person to know about two-floor flagship Anthropologie store opening at Yorkville & Bellair?

Light green bow tie worn as hairband: vintage. Black heattech turtleneck: Uniqlo. Black ruffle top: ASOS. Black cardigan: Uniqlo. Black skirt: Uniqlo. Grey wool ribbed leggings: H&M. Black booties: Splendid China Tower.
Lunch at Smoke's Poutinerie, evening at a theatre where a friend portrayed Jane Bennet in a stage adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. I wanted to wear my pink bow tie, but the strap wasn't long enough to wrap around my huge head. Also, these wool leggings are the warmest things ever -- I live in them.
