Sun 01.25: Reunion Dinner Monday, January 26, 2009 7:15 PM

Grey bow hairband: Forever 21. Navy polka dot long sleeve tee: Commes des Garçons for H&M. Grey cardigan: American Apparel. Silver key necklace & pear watch pendent: Marc by Marc Jacobs. Cream lace skirt: H&M. Grey wool ribbed leggings: H&M. Black flats: Zara.

Last night I wore this to my family's reunion dinner for Chinese New Year, which is today -- Happy New Year!

Those flats were worn in my imagination. In reality, the snow and cold decided on a pair of black boots that didn't fit quite right with the outfit.

H&M has a nice alternative to the heart purse I'd been eyeing on ASOS. Sure it doesn't have that lovely red colour or the buttery softness of leather or the intricate pleating or the cute tassel, but it was cheap; key because it'll end up at the back of my drawer in a few months.

Also spotted at H&M: a bunch of Commes des Garçons items at half off including polka dot button down shirts, deconstructed skirts, wool sweaters, coats, and a lone polka dot bag. This is why I don't line up for designer collaborations when they drop.

Last summer I wore my Zara flats to death so when I saw these on sale I scooped them up for this summer. (They're not the same pair.)

Ruffles & Stripes Friday, January 23, 2009 1:47 AM

Two days ago, the ASOS order I placed on January 8th landed in my mailbox without getting docked by customs. I am pleased with my purchases, which totaled $52.40 CAD including shipping (my Visa bill arrived the following day -- so efficient).

ASOS Monday, January 19, 2009 4:51 PM

1. Tie Front Button Through Dress. 2. Modalu Heart Cross Body Bag. 3. Leather Soft Tie Sandal.

My latest obsession is ASOS. I know ASOS is old news, but I very recently discovered how reasonable their Canadian shipping prices are. Plus their sale prices are good despite the exchange rate not being in favour of the Canadian dollar.

Urban Outfitters used to be my go-to place for online sales, but then they implemented a minimum $30 USD fee for shipping, which has since been upped to $50 USD. Yes, I'm still very bitter about it, but now I have ASOS to help fulfill that 3 AM urge to spend money without the guilt.

ETA: I didn't order the above items -- just browsing.

First Birthday Thursday, January 15, 2009 2:14 PM

Today marks one year since the launch of Little Thoughts. When this blog began, I never imagined there to be so many readers -- I was perfectly content with the idea of a handful of regular vistiors. So thank you everyone for taking the time to view my pictures and read my inane ramblings. I really appreciate all the support, linkage, comments, and kind words. You're an amazing bunch! If it were physically possible, I'd have everyone over for tea & cupcakes.

Also, I have to give a special thanks to the wonderful Fruchtzwerg who encouraged me to start the blog in the first place! So those of you who enjoy my blog, remember to thank her :) She's the best!

FASHION Loves Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:30 AM

Week of July 28, 2008.

This afternoon, in a cough medication induced haze, I tried to organize some files on my computer from my time at FASHION Magazine. During my internship, I had the opportunity to shoot the third item (usually a beauty product) for the weekly FASHION Loves section on the website. Thought I'd share some of my favourites on here.

Week of August 4, 2008.

Week of September 22, 2008.

Wed 12.31: Funny Face Tuesday, January 06, 2009 4:27 PM

Black heattech turtleneck: Uniqlo. Dress: H&M. Glass heart pendant: self-assembled. Black wool ribbed tights: Jessica (Sears). Black booties: Splendid China Tower.

A dear friend was home for the holidays so I decided to forgo the usual party I attend on NYE to spend some time with her. We threw ourselves an Audrey Hepburn party / sleepover complete with costumes. My friend channeled Holly Golightly, while I went for Jo Stockton as the bookstore clerk. My footwear was off, but the snow on the ground made it a boot affair.

Audrey as Jo Stockton in a still from Funny Face.

In the morning, my friend baked delicious raisin & cinnamon scones. All in all, a great start to 2009 -- minus the getting sick a day later thing.

Oh, Topshop Sunday, January 04, 2009 6:28 PM

Topshop is killing me with their frills, ruffles, pleats, tucks, and inability to ship to Canada.

To Do List Sunday, January 04, 2009 5:31 PM

Clearly the unchecked boxes mean I've accomplished nothing this weekend. Unless this quasi-post counts.

My excuse? I'm sick. Don't worry, I'm on the mend.
