White blouse: H&M. Yellow plaid wool dress: 2% (Hong Kong). Silver bird cage necklace: H&M. Olive green cotton tights: Jessica (Sears). Brown feather flats: Fairy Tales Are True. Red bow purse: vintage.

Well. In teevee-land, I've watched the entire series of Brothers & Sisters up to the most recent episode over the last four days. Now I feel as if I've lost a limb because I have to wait until Sunday night to see what happens next.

Hopefully I'll get back into the swing of this blog and other things in my life (as long as I don't pick another teevee series to start watching). I'm pretty much the definition of procrastinator. I get worse with age -- during my last year of university I often started papers at 4 am of the day it was due. Luckily by fourth year, teachers stopped taking off marks for spelling and grammar since I never had time to proofread.

Sat 10.25: Ghostly Wednesday, October 29, 2008 1:52 AM

Floral dress: H&M. Blue cashmere cardigan: vintage Jaeger (grandpa's). Bird & leaf necklace: Forever 21. Olive green cotton tights: Jessica (Sears). Navy brogues: Franco Sarto.

The past couple of days I've been too occupied with Brothers & Sisters to edit photos and write posts.

On Saturday K-line and I went to the Absolutely Vintage Sale in Leslieville that featured inventory from three different vintage stores / sources. There were some beautiful pieces, like the Chanel dress I found, but we left empty-handed. K took a few pictures at the sale, but I didn't, so keep an eye on her blog for those.

We checked out Gadabout Vintage (one of the stores at the sale) during our quest for food where I tried on the most gorgeous dress with the sweetest collar. It had a black ribbon threaded through it that could be tied into a bow at the back.

Now my teevee watching break is over and it's back to season one of Brothers & Sisters.

The Scent of Peace Saturday, October 25, 2008 10:00 AM

When I was younger, So Pink by the Gap was my signature scent. For whatever reason I eventually stopped wearing perfume. On my last birthday, a friend gave me a bottle of Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea. Slowly but surely, I found myself spritzing my wrists again.

My current obsession is with Bond No. 9's The Scent of Peace. The first time I smelt this perfume was during a shopping trip with K-line where we stopped by their counter at Holt's. Since then I've acquired my own bottle and I cannot stop sniffing myself because I love anything that contains black current (Ribena, anyone?). It smells so, so, so good!

Currently I'm eyeing Daisy by Marc Jacobs simply because I love the bottle. What scents do you wear?

PS. US readers: After browsing the Bond No. 9 website, I discovered that you can order six samples of their perfumes for $15. I would totally do this if I lived in the States, especially considering how pricey their perfumes are. Have fun!

Fri 10.24: House Wears Saturday, October 25, 2008 12:50 AM

Grey & white striped long sleeve tee: Old Navy. Polka dot silk slip dress: Old Navy. Bow cardigan: H&M. Rose slippers: Chinatown.

Today's plan was to lock myself in the house until I managed to cross off some of the things on my to-do list.

All I managed to do was take pictures of myself for this blog, do some dusting (namely the chest of drawers I'm sitting on top of), and watch the first season of Lipstick Jungle. So much for my big plan.

Strapped Wedges Friday, October 24, 2008 5:15 PM

Yesterday while waiting for my friend, I tried on these strapped wedges at Forever 21. They remind me of those Chloé shoes from a couple years ago, which I still covet. However, a girl who was trying on a pair of boots, and I deemed them as sitting shoes so they're not very practical. In the end, I very wisely (but wistfully) left them on the shelf. I need to save my money for other things at the moment.

Black long sleeve merino tee: Segments (Costco). Gold & silver necklace: Forever 21. Beige paper bag waist skirt: Joe Fresh Style. Dark grey ribbed tights: Joe Fresh Style. Navy brogues: Franco Sarto.

Yesterday evening I met up with a friend. I bought mittens (which were immediately useful). We wandered around the financial district. The sun goes down way too early these days.

Wed 10.22: It's A Bird... Wednesday, October 22, 2008 8:06 PM

Grey flannel dress: H&M. Silver bird cage necklace: H&M. Greenish-yellow ribbed tights: H&M. Mary janes: Nine West.

This dress never fails to make me feel like leaping from rooftop to rooftop because of the swingy back that reminds me of a cape. Good thing I know better then to think I'm actually Superman.

Tue 10.21: Snow Day Tuesday, October 21, 2008 10:58 PM

Plaid shirt: American Eagle. Owl macrame necklace: Etsy (macraMe). Grey cardigan: vintage (grandpa's). Mustard yellow jersey skirt: American Apparel. Black ribbed wool tights: Jessica (Sears). Black moccasin booties: Aldo.

And so it begins...trying to stay warm & cozy during the first snow of this fall / winter season.

Sat 10.18: Autumn Air Tuesday, October 21, 2008 1:32 PM

Ivory top: WaWa Boutique (Pacific Mall). Cream & mustard cardigan: Joe Fresh Style. Brown skinny snakeskin belt: vintage. Blue tweed skirt: H&M. Brown ribbed leggings: Target. Brown suede knee high boots: Joe Fresh Style.

Trying my best to do a Caroline Trentini jump shot...

Saturday was the classic fall day. The air was nippy and the leaves crunched under my feet. All I needed was a cup of hot apple cider to make the day complete. It's a shame this season is far too short.

My friend & I spent the afternoon exploring a nearby forest -- same one I went to last weekend, but a different section of it. Some photos below.

Fri 10.17: Floating Monday, October 20, 2008 7:23 PM

Brown patterned dress: H&M. Cream & mustard cardigan: Joe Fresh Style. Gold bird & leaf necklace: Forever 21. Ivory textured tights: H&M. Brown feather flats: Fairy Tales Are True.

A good thing about being 5'2" (...and a bit) is that mini dresses don't look too scandalously short on me. Originally this outfit was belted, but the dress kept riding up because of it.

Thu 10.16: Rainbow Stripes Monday, October 20, 2008 1:28 AM

Blouse: Old Navy Kids. Dress: Kei Hayama Plus. Gold & silver necklace: Forever 21. Cream & mustard cardigan: Joe Fresh Style. Brown skinny snakeskin belt: vintage. Grey ribbed tights: Calvin Klein. Fringe booties: Urban Outfitters.

Random fact: I'm a bit of a klutz. I will find all the lumps and bumps on seemingly smooth sidewalks and trip over them. I nearly fell over while shooting this image. Hence, the death grip on that little crack on the wall.

Wed 10.15: Back Online Sunday, October 19, 2008 2:33 PM

Grey dress worn as top: First Markham Place. Cream lace skirt: H&M. Grey patterned tights: McGregor. Grey wedges: H&M.

Have I ever missed my little blog! As some of you may have noticed, I exceeded my bandwidth limit for the month. I tracked down the source that used up my bandwidth (through hotlinking) and they had managed to use up 20GB in one day when I've never been over 15GB a month for this blog. Crazy.

I managed to resolve my bandwidth issues with my host. However, to err on the side of cautious, I've put up a hotlink protection for the rest of the month so I apologize if my images aren't working through the various rss readers some of you may be using.

Below are a few photos I took in the Little India & Leslieville area while out with a friend last Wednesday.

Mon 10.13: Thanksgiving Tuesday, October 14, 2008 1:01 AM

Short sleeve blazer: H&M. Brown skinny snakeskin belt: vintage. Navy wide leg trousers: Miss Sixty. Navy brogues: Franco Sarto. Bracelets: souk in Tunisia.

I hope all my Canadian readers had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with delicious turkey (or tofurkey) and stuffing and pumpkin pie! I (sadly) didn't have any of the above this year, but the French onion soup, roast beef, and chocolate cake were almost as good.

Sun 10.12: Almost Fall Colours Sunday, October 12, 2008 8:20 PM

Floral dress: H&M. Silver bird cage necklace: H&M. Grey opaque tights: Target. Navy brogues: Franco Sarto.

Another beautiful autumn day and this time I spent it outdoors with a couple of friends. The leaves have only begun to change colours.

Brogueish Sunday, October 12, 2008 7:13 PM

Navy brogues from yesterday's sale. They are sample size sixes, but for whatever reason my size seven feet fit into them. The leather is buttery soft.

Sat 10.11 Sunday, October 12, 2008 2:42 AM

Navy & white gingham dress: Olive des Olive. Cardigan: Joe Fresh Style. Brown leather belt: dad's. Brown patterned tights: Wolford. Fish flats: Argyle Centre (Hong Kong). Bracelets: souk in Tunisia and H&M.

Despite the gorgeous weather outside, I spent my afternoon inside a warehouse with a few friends at the Petite Feet Sample Sale. My feet are by no means sample size, but I got to ogle at shoes without doing too much damage.

20081010_004.jpg
White blouse: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Gap. Plaid skirt: H&M. Black patterned tights: Secret. Grey wedges: H&M.

Today was not my day to travel. A normally slightly over an hour commute took double the amount of time. I was not a happy camper, but luckily I had my iPod to keep me sane.

Postcards from the Edge Friday, October 10, 2008 5:46 PM

Scans via foto_decadent.

Shot by Tom Craig for the November 2008 issue of British Vogue. I nearly died a little on the inside (in a good way) when I saw these three images. Broke as I am, I may have to pick up that issue.

20081009_002.jpg
Black blouse: Club Monaco. Skirt: H&M. Black patterned tights: DKNY. Grey wedges: H&M.

This afternoon I ran errands and I felt naked having forgotten both my mobile phone and wallet at home (luckily TTC tokens and a bit of cash was stashed away in a coin purse). I had a bit of time to spare while waiting to meet up with a friend so we could pick up our free A-list gifts from Aerie (scented candle this month!) so I peeked into H&M. Big mistake as there was a rack of Trend items at half off and I cannot be spending money at the moment because putting together my portfolio books is costing several hundred dollars that I don't have. Then again, what's another $30? (I'm usually much more responsible with my money.)

Those tights have tiny red dots on them as well, but they didn't show up.

Grey outfit to go with a grey and rainy day.

Tue 10.07: Argylicious Wednesday, October 08, 2008 11:50 PM

Rabbit tee: Argyle Centre (Hong Kong). Black boys' blazer: secondhand (Value Village). Silver bird cage necklace: H&M. Yellow mustard jersey skirt: American Apparel. Black argyle tights: Voilà!. Flats: Zara.

While at Wal-Mart yesterday afternoon, a man came up to me to compliment my tights. He was quite enthusiastic about it actually, but it was more funny then weird since he had a huge smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye (thank goodness!). He went on to tell me I should design argyle print shoes, then continued to say that I should do argyle head-to-toe.

My first day off and I spent it having lunch with my mom and running errands.

Sat 10.04: Nuit Blanche Monday, October 06, 2008 7:02 PM

Boys white tee: Simply Basic (Wal-Mart). Black long hoodie (used as pillow): Gap. Heart charm necklace: Tryst by Kerry. Blue tweed skirt: H&M. Greenish-yellow ribbed tights: H&M. Flats: Zara.

Saturday night was Nuit Blanche ("a free all-night contemporary art thing"). I didn't leave my house until midnight and we wandered the streets until the sun rose.

This year I was a bit underwhelmed by the art I saw. Perhaps we were in the wrong zones, and perhaps missing everything by ten minutes had something to do with it. I was very disappointed that when we got to The Drake, the David Rokeby piece had already closed. There were a few other similar disappointments.

On the bright side, it didn't rain last night. And my camera lens is okay. I dropped my bag with my camera in it and shattered my UV filter and busted my lens cap. It was pure panic for ten minutes as the boys took turns trying to unscrew my filter and / or pop off the lens cap which was pushed in. However, my lens managed to escape unscathed. Those L-series lenses are sure hardy. Good for klutzes like me.

Below are some photos from the night.

SMASH! Droppin' Stuff - The Custodians of Destruction.

Fri 10.03: Last Day Saturday, October 04, 2008 1:01 PM

Dress: H&M. Silver bird cage necklace: H&M. Black opaque tights: H&M. Flats: Zara.

...well, what do you know? Another H&M outfit.

Yesterday was the last day of my internship, although the goodbye wasn't final because I will be interning part-time for a couple of weeks in mid-October. It's for a different project though, but it'll be a nice transition period to the rest of my life (or something like that, haha).

Thu 10.02: Lacey II Thursday, October 02, 2008 9:57 PM

Grey & white striped long sleeve tee: Old Navy. Bow cardigan: H&M. Gold & silver necklace: Forever 21. Cream lace skirt: H&M. Grey-white textured tights: DKNY. Black opaque tights worn underneath: unknown. Grey wedges: H&M.

Can't believe tomorrow is my last official day of my internship. The last three months just flew by. Hopefully I'll have an extra bit of downtime over the next few weeks. I've noticed a lot of new commenters and a whole lot of new linkage and I haven't been the best blogger with commenting on other blogs so I want to rectify that situation!

Wed 10.01: Lacey Thursday, October 02, 2008 12:01 AM

Ivory lace dress: H&M. Mustard yellow & cream cardigan: Joe Fresh Style. Wood belt: vintage (Apt. 909). Brown & black patterned tights: Voilà!. Fringe booties: Urban Outfitters.

I haven't worn this lace dress in forever, and neither has Fruchtzwerg, who is my dress twin. I wish you could see the detail on the tights, but the light was dying and it was too hard to photograph.

By the way, where did September go?

Tue 09.30 Wednesday, October 01, 2008 8:21 PM

Plaid dress: H&M. Long sweater vest: H&M. Silver bird cage necklace: H&M. Purple textured tights: unknown. Grey wedges: H&M.

Usually I try to mix it up, but the contents of my wardrobe is increasingly becoming exclusively all H&M. For all I know, the tights could very well be from H&M too. They were given to me (brand new) without the packaging. However, they don't feel like H&M tights, at least not like the other million pairs I have from the Swedish retailer.

Mon 09.29: Wolforded! Wednesday, October 01, 2008 12:07 AM

Floral dress: H&M. Caridgan: Joe Fresh Style. Wood belt: vintage (Apt. 909). Brown patterned tights: Wolford. Fringe booties: Urban Outfitters.

These tights would be my first Wolford experience. Now I know why they cost as much as they do. They are the best things to ever wrap my legs and I don't ever want to take them off.
