Button Up
Tuesday, September 30, 2008 6:05 PM

Sunday was a lazy day and I spent part of the afternoon (finally!) changing the buttons on my blazer. The buttons were purchased a couple weeks ago and the lady at the button store on Queen West (yes, that one) helped me pick out these ones. Well, I asked her to choose between two that I liked. Now this blazer is perfect.

White blouse: H&M. Silver bird cage necklace: H&M. Mustard yellow jersey skirt: American Apparel. Black patterned tights: Mondor. Grey wedges: H&M.
While looking at myself in the mirror, I thought this outfit would be perfect if the skirt was a pair of shorts instead. Still loose and drapey like the skirt, but with that added split down the middle.
On Saturday evening (after spending the earlier part of the day looking for Lula magazine), I went out to celebrate a friend's birthday with a delicious meal at The Siddhartha. We capped off the night with an oatmeal raisin cookie and hot chocolate. We're low-key like that.

Silk dress: Lux. Magenta opaque tights: H&M. Grey wedges: H&M.
Most inexpensive outfit ever. The shoes were $39.90, but the tights plus dress together don't even add up to half the price of the shoes.

White top: Club Monaco. Black bow dress: H&M. Black patterned tights: Joe Fresh Style. Black high heel oxfords: Aldo.
Not sure if this is meant to be a dress or tunic since it was only $16.90, but on me it was definitely a dress. The price satisfied my need for something new while fitting neatly within my meager budget.
My cousin & I have been craving for fish & chips so after work, my brother, cousin & I went to try Somethin's Fishy in Kensington Market. The tartare sauce was out of this world, but I found the fries to be a little overcooked.

Lula: Issue Number Seven
Sunday, September 28, 2008 10:34 PM

After searching up and down the streets of Toronto and popping into every other bookstore and magazine shop in the city, I finally got my (large) paws on the seventh issue of Lula at Presse Internationale on College.
Just wanted to share some images I liked after a quick flip through...

Sailboat print tee: 2% (Hong Kong). Silver bird cage necklace: H&M. Navy skirt: H&M. Grey ribbed knee socks: H&M. Black jazz shoes: Dolce Vita.
Oh, the things I sometimes do for a photo. Climbing over the banister seemed like a good idea at the time, until I actually did it and my fear of heights / falling struck me. I'm sure I left a dent from how hard I gripped the banister.

Dress: Erin Fetherston for Target. Black patterned tights: Hong Kong. Black & cream mary janes: Nine West.
On Tuesday evening, I went out to dinner with all my aunts & uncles on my dad's side. It was one of my aunt's last night in Canada before returning to Hong Kong the next day.
I've been editing like mad the last couple of day so hopefully I'll be caught up on outfit photos soon. And I hope to have some time to post some other things. The other sections on this blog are seriously lacking. I know, I keep harping about lack of time. There should be forty hours in a day and/or I need to learn to function on two hours of sleep.

Flower dress: H&M. Mustard & cream cardigan: Joe Fresh Style. Dark turquoise tights: H&M. Cloisonné bracelets: factory in Beijing. Brown feather flats: Fairy Tales Are True.
On Saturday night, a friend and I checked out the Chinese Lantern Festival ongoing down at Ontario Place. I didn't take very many photos because I never did anything with the ones I took at last year's version of the festival.
Also, not only am I behind on outfit posts and replying to comments, I'm behind on reading all your lovely blogs as well. Will catch up soon!

Cream bow tunic: In Fashion (Hong Kong). Cream lace skirt: H&M. Brown patterned tights: Dragon Centre (Hong Kong). Yellow heels: Nine West. Brown feather flats: Fairy Tales Are True. Flower ring: Forever 21.
Wore the bow tunic + lace skirt combo again, but with different tights and footwear. I couldn't decided between the heels or the flats. In the end I went with the flats because my legs were a bit sore from all the walking I did the day before.

Batman tee: Junk Food Loves Gap Kids. Scarf: vintage (grandma's). Skirt: H&M. Patterned tights: Hong Kong. Flats: Zara.
Last Wednesday was a long day. First I ran around for work, then I ran errands after work, then finally I went to the Horseshoe to see the French Kicks. Unfortunately I forgot my camera battery at home so I didn't take any pictures at the show.
I have a huge backlog of outfit photos. I was stuck on figuring out how to edit this one and wanted to remain in chronological order because I'm slightly OCD like that (even though in the past I've let some slide out of order).

Heather grey men's tee: Old Navy. Pear watch pendant: Marc by Marc Jacobs. Cream lace skirt: H&M. Black patterned tights: Hong Kong. Grey wedges: H&M.
On Sunday it dawned on me that I forgot to pack non-wedding clothes when I went home for the weekend. So I made do with random pieces I had laying around. A friend received free tickets to The Imperial Circus of China at Casino Rama so I spent the afternoon in Orillia.

Left outfit; Cream bow tunic: In Fashion (Hong Kong). Cream lace skirt: H&M. Grey ribbed tights: Calvin Klein. Grey wedges: H&M. Bag: Miu Miu. Bracelets: H&M. // Right outfit; Pale pink dress: H&M. Boy's tuxedo blazer: secondhand (Value Village). Pear watch pendant: Marc by Marc Jacobs. Grey ribbed tights: Calvin Klein. Yellow heels: Nine West. Bag: Miu Miu. // Full length photographs taken by my parents.
On Saturday I attended my cousin's wedding. The first outfit was worn to the ceremony (which looks much better then as documented in this photograph...and I hate how I'm squinting but that's another issue) and the second was worn to the reception (and I wish I took the time to hem the dress a couple inches). The weather was weird -- super humid but with a cold wind and rain. I decided it was best to dress for the air conditioning instead since most of my time would be spent indoors and am I glad I threw on the tights because otherwise I would've froze my butt off.
PS. The Miu Miu bag isn't mine. It was lent to me by my cousin's maid of honour (and one of my house guests) because I couldn't find a bag small yet big enough to carry my DSLR.

These tights are one of my favourite pairs. Sadly, I managed to poke toe holes into them. I am going to see if I can mend them so they last a few more wears. Afterall, unless I wear peep toes the holes will be hidden. & yes, it's been cold enough for tights this week!

This entry is a bit scattered so I will make a numbered list.
1. I'm in dire need of some location inspiration. I keep shooting in the same hallway (or in front of a window).
2. Last Friday I met up with some friends who were in town for TIFF. This outfit made me feel a bit school girlish, which I blame on Gossip Girl. The buttons on the blazer will be changed as soon as I have time to go source new ones.
3. We had dinner at Salad King where I ordered my usual: Thai green curry chicken with rice.

Boys tuxedo blazer: secondhand (Value Village). White top: Club Monaco. Charm necklace: Urban Outfitters. Grey belt (not pictured): vintage. Wide leg jeans: Old Navy. Grey wedges: H&M.
Today was hot, hot, hot so it was best to dress simple. I used to live in these jeans, but I haven't worn them in some time because I lost a little bit of weight without even trying (!) and now they're too big at the waist. This morning I decided the saggy bum effect from jeans a size too big were worth not having denim cling to my legs in the humid weather.
Yes, I realize I always complain about the heat. I've never been a summer person and I'm anxious for fall especially seeing so many of you in lovely tights and coats and all things related to the cooler weather. Summer is so last year.

Sun 08.31: Let's Go To The Ex
Monday, September 01, 2008 3:40 PM

Heather grey men's tee: Old Navy. Necklaces: B*jeweled Vintage, Amy Shutt, and Urban Outfitters. Dark blue skinny jeans: Forever 21. Flats: Zara. Black leather satchel: Sabina. Sunglasses: H&M. Me, photographed by a friend.
Labour Day weekend is considered the end of summer in my city. This year I decided to close out summer the traditional Torontonian way: by going to The Ex. (Now if only the weather would switch to autumn weather...)
For this occasion, I donned my basic summer uniform. If I didn't post an outfit photo for a day during the past few hot & sticky (& rainy) months, chances are I was wearing some variation of this outfit -- loose tee, skinnies, flats, two to three necklaces, and my beloved Sabina bag.
Lots of photos were taken as we took in the parade, the farm, the flower competition, and the midway. Lots of food was consumed including my favourite: the hot waffle ice cream sandwich. However, the beaver tail managed to elude me once again. Believe it or not, despite being born and raised in this fair city, I've never eaten a beaver tail.
How did you spend your long weekend?
