Batman tee: Junk Food for Gap Kids. Typewriter key necklace: B*jeweled Vintage. Grey trousers: present from Hong Kong. Reddish brown braided belt: dad's. Flats: Zara.

Another long weekend meant another shopping date with K. Aside from the obvious benefit of being in great company, this time I noticed another perk: K's ability to become superfriends with the salespeople. By merely standing next to her, I received a ton of free samples and goodies as a result.

We had a late lunch at the Holts (downstairs) café where we indulged in many tasty things. Thanks for dessert, K!

More Shoes Saturday, August 30, 2008 7:12 PM

I seriously need to stop the shoe shopping. At least these didn't break the bank. I wasn't expecting to find them since every H&M I had gone to were sold out in my size. Yesterday I had to meet a friend at Yorkdale and the H&M there had two pairs in stock and both were the same size -- my size. How could I argue with shopping fate?

Thu 08.28: A Glimpse of Fall Saturday, August 30, 2008 6:45 PM

Thursday was cold so the tights came out to play. Unfortunately the weather has since heated up..

Originally I had shot an outfit photo for that day, but I don''t like any of the photos except for this one.

Kiltie Buckle Heel Wednesday, August 27, 2008 11:49 PM 20080827_001.jpg

My new shoe booties from Urban Outfitters. I think I will be able to make good use of them come fall, especially since the heel, at three inches, is lower then all my other tall shoes.

A friend visiting relatives in the States helped bring these home for me. They're available at the Toronto stores, but ordering from the States equals less tax and a 10% off coupon code!

Heather grey men's tee: Old Navy. Gold & silver necklace: Forever 21. Navy blue skirt: H&M. Mustard yellow knee socks: Forever 21. Black jazz shoes: Dolce Vita.

After work I met up with a friend for dinner at Owl in Koreatown where she devoured her gamjatang and I scarfed down my bibimbap. Yes, we were starving.

The sun was going down when I took the outfit photos. Shot at 3.2 seconds, they came out better then I anticipated.

Mon 08.25: A Knock Off Monday, August 25, 2008 10:42 PM

Floral dress: H&M. Boys tuxedo jacket: secondhand (Value Village). Pear watch pendant: Marc by Marc Jacobs. Grey ribbed knee socks: H&M. Black jazz shoes: Dolce Vita.

In the second photo, I am channeling my inner E.T. ;) Anyway, I don't know what it is with me and windows.

This outfit was knocked-off from a girl featured on The Sartorialist. I never thought the dress would work with greys and blacks, but when I saw her with this colour palette, I had to try it for myself. Also, I had to laugh when I saw that photo because I had almost the exact same things in my closet.

Sat 08.16: Day Trip Friday, August 22, 2008 1:54 AM

Dress: H&M Young. Grey leggings: Giordano. Flip flops: G.O.D. (Hong Kong). Sunglasses: H&M.

Last Saturday a friend and I went exploring at Sandbanks Provincial Park. Along the way, we stopped by to have lunch at Regent Café in Picton. There, I had a delicious red pepper and black bean soup served with a slice of sundried tomato and black olive bread. We bought a small loaf of the bread and some chocolate chip cookies on our way out.

On the way home, we passed through Bloomfield where I had scrumptious homemade apple pie ice cream from Slickers. They create their ice cream with local ingredients. My only regret is not getting a double triple scoop.

Pleated top: Zara. Grey striped cardigan: Jacob Connexion. Grape necklace: H&M. Skirt: H&M. Black opaque footless tights: Old Navy. Flats: Zara.

For whatever reason, the lower half of this outfit made me feel like a ballerina. Or what I think feels like a ballerina considering that I never took dance lessons when I was younger. It was art and swimming for me with a year of piano mixed in.

Random fact: I wore this skirt on this day last year. The reason why I remember is because I wore it out to dinner for my parents' wedding anniversary. Today is their thirty-second.

Bow tunic worn as top: In Fashion (Hong Kong). Paper bag waist skirt: Joe Fresh Style. Wood belt: vintage (Apt. 909). Yellow overknee socks: H&M. Brown feather flats: Fairy Tales Are True.

Wearing my new accessories together -- the belt and the shoes. Thought I'd kill two birds with one stone.

Glitter Stripes Monday, August 18, 2008 11:01 PM

This afternoon, I stopped by The Bay at Yonge & Queen to check out their legwear selection before going home. Last winter I noticed their stock of Hue tights came in a huge variety of colours.

Their current tights selection carried all the odds and ends I've been hoping my usual stops for cheaper tights would stock. I think I may have found my new place to buy reasonably priced tights in this city. I wasn't planning to buying anything until the weather cooled, but I had to add these sheer pink Betsey Johnson tights with pink glitter vertical stripes to my collection. I wish I snapped a close-up of the rosebud on the waistband -- so sweet. To make it even sweeter, the tights were on sale for $6.19 (from $25!).

BBW Sunday, August 17, 2008 4:55 PM

At long last, Bath & Body Works is coming to Canada with six stores set to open this fall (two will be in Toronto; Yorkdale & Fairview). No longer will I have to lie to the customs officer about the size of my stash during those runs across the border to replenish my stock of Black Raspberry Vanilla products.

The Feather Game Thursday, August 14, 2008 9:24 PM

Feather fascinators have been popping up here and there over the last year, and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing them on the pretty heads of bloggers such as dreamecho and Susie Bubble. However, I wanted something a little more subtle for myself so when I saw these feather adorned flats at Urban Outfitters I knew they had to come home with me.

On a different note, the harder I try to save money, the more I end up spending. Maybe I should try a little reverse psychology and tell myself to spend, spend, spend. Doubtful it'll work though! Sometime next week I'll post today's haul from Value Village.

A Black Issue Wednesday, August 13, 2008 8:16 PM

Earlier this week, I stood inside International News on Front Street trying to decide the fate of my wallet: lunch for the rest of the week or the July 2008 issue of Vogue Italia ($37.29 after taxes). In the end I couldn't resist the lure of the elusive Black Issue. Even the store clerk knew it was special because he told me it was the only one he had.

Vogue Italia covers photographed by Steven Meisel.

Ironically, like many others have pointed out, most (if not all) of the ads within feature white models. Politics aside, there is some wonderful photography going on inside the pages.

Pretty imagery captured by Dusan Reljin.

I love the shadow play here done by Steven Meisel.

Tue 08.12: Left Meets Right Tuesday, August 12, 2008 8:38 PM

White ribbed girls tank: Old Navy. Yellow tank: Old Navy. Gold charm necklace: Urban Outfitters. Silk scarf: Suzhou City Kaidi Silk Co. Ltd. (China). Blue skirt: Joe Fresh Style. Grey ribbed knee socks: H&M. High heel oxfords: Aldo.

This outfit made me feel a bit flight attendant-ish, and yes, it's the blue skirt again -- I don't wear it for months then I do it twice in three days!

Mon 08.11 Monday, August 11, 2008 11:48 PM

White boys a-shirt: Simply Basic (Wal-Mart). Plaid dress: H&M. Gold birds on a branch necklace: Moss Mills. Bird scarf: vintage. Grey swiss dot footless tights: Sparkle & Fade. Flats: Zara.

The weather is a bit nutty at the moment. Thanks to the sun, the 16˚C this morning felt a lot warmer then expected (and certainly a lot warmer then yesterday's rainy 20˚C or so).

DKNY FW 2008 Monday, August 11, 2008 7:55 PM

Photos: Marcio Madeira / style.com

DKNY is not a line I usually pay attention to, but I find their mash up of prints, rich colours, and metallics for fall very appealing.

Sun 08.10 Sunday, August 10, 2008 6:39 PM

Heather grey men's tee: Old Navy. Charm necklace: Urban Outfitters. Blue skirt: Joe Fresh Style. Black tights: unknown. Flats: Zara. High heel oxfords: Aldo.

It was cold today so I gladly rooted out a pair of tights because it'll likely be the only chance to wear them until fall (which itself is very short).

This is my first time wearing my blue skirt. I'm not sure why it took me so long, but here it is and it already needs to be ironed even though I took these photos after lunch and had only changed right before lunch. As you can see, I couldn't decide between the shoes, but the flats were more practical for grocery shopping in East Chinatown. The rain once again ruined my plans for checking out Taste of the Danforth in the afternoon.

Sat 08.09: Rainy Day Saturday, August 09, 2008 8:42 PM

Oversized grey tee: H&M. Silver birds necklace: H&M. Reddish brown braided belt: dad's. Yellow jersey skirt: American Apparel. Grey ribbed knee socks: H&M. Flats: Zara.

It's been raining like mad so my plans for the day were partially cancelled. Instead I made new plans, which included dragging a friend to Apt. 909 because I couldn't stop obsessing over the belt I spotted last weekend. Luckily, it was still there and now it's mine. I have a pretty large belt collection despite wearing the same few over and over, but I have to say this is the first and only wood belt I have. The entire trip home, I joked to my friend that I had to buy some Pine Sol for my belt because my humour is equivalent to that of a first grader's.

How has your Saturday been?

Fri 08.08 Friday, August 08, 2008 11:59 PM

Dress: H&M. Bird & leaf necklace: Forever 21. Bird scarf: vintage from mom. Light pink ribbed footless tights: Sparkle & Face. Yellow heels: Nine West. Flats: Zara.

The flats were worn during the commute and the heels were brought to work in a dust bag. Only the heels stayed on for five seconds because I ended up doing a lot of walking within the building. At quarter to one, I dashed out to meet a friend for lunch hour power shopping and she bought a pair of leg-envy inducing pants which hopefully will pop up on her blog sooner rather then later (guess who?).

Cropped Bomber Jacket Tuesday, August 05, 2008 6:38 PM

It's been a while since I've fallen for a piece at the Gap (save for the designer collaboration earlier this year), however this jacket is causing some serious yenning. I like how it's cut like a leather jacket, but it's made of canvas instead. I'm not much of a leather clothing girl. Leather accessories, yes, leather clothing, no.

Black Sandals Monday, August 04, 2008 10:29 PM

1. MICHAEL Michael Kors. 2. Nine West. 3. Aldo. 4. Aldo.

Somewhat affordable shoes I've been eyeing everytime I'm at the mall. The MICHAEL Michael Kors ones are available at Browns and are the most expensive of the lot at $158. However, I didn't like the product shot on the Browns site hence the link to Nordstroms instead. The Aldo Chloé knock-offs look pretty horrible on me, but that hasn't stopped me from admiring them in-store.

White boys a-shirt: Simply Basic (Wal-Mart). Rose print strapless dress: H&M. Yellow & gold belt: Crossover Boutique (Pacific Mall). Brown canvas strap wedges: Old Navy. Gold bracelets: H&M.

This outfit was worn to a friend's birthday barbeque last weekend. Lots of deliciousness was consumed including mango and strawberry gelato that a friend picked up from Dolce.

Batman tee: Junk Food Loves Gap Kids. Gold star necklace: Chow Tai Fook (Hong Kong). Plaid button skirt: H&M. Black sandals: New Town Mall (Hong Kong).

Work on Thursday. This is the skirt I originally wanted to wear with my Batman tee when I went to go see The Dark Knight a couple weeks ago. My feet were hurting from the previous day so I nixed the heels I had wanted to wear with this ensemble.

Sat 08.02: Saturday Staycation Saturday, August 02, 2008 9:55 PM

K-Line, left, looking lovely in a vintage dress and Nine West sandals. // Me, photographed by K-Line. White boys a-shirt: Simply Basic (Wal-Mart). Yellow tank: Old Navy. Bird & leaf necklace: Forever 21. Brown vest: Dragon Centre (Hong Kong). Black skinny jeans: Forever 21. White sandals: Meteor. Scraf: H&M. Black leather satchel: Sabina. Sunglasses: H&M.

As Torontonians headed to cottage country for the long weekend, the fabulous K-Line and I decided to take a staycation in our fair city. We met up for brunch at Swan so I could satisfy my eggs benedict craving before going on a tour of K's favourite vintage shops in the west end.

I can now see why she talks up Apt. 909 so much. It is a truly charming store with many beautiful pieces on their shelves, like the Greyhound dress I didn't want to take off and the gorgeous cherry wood belt I had trouble putting down. Though I left empty-handed, K made off with the most adorable dress which I don't want to go into detail about because I'm sure she'll post about it.

And now for a photo dump of our day...

Fri 08.01: Grey or Gray Friday, August 01, 2008 9:38 PM

Men's grey tee: Old Navy. Typewriter key necklace: B*jeweled Vintage. Grey trousers: present from Hong Kong. Grey belt: vintage. White sandals: Meteor. Black leather satchel: Sabina.

Craziness; it's already August.

This morning I hopped on the streetcar and flashed my July TTC pass, which the driver oddly accepted. One stop later I realized I had the wrong pass. Already running late, I hopped off and ran back to grab my August pass so I wouldn't have to pay a fare going home (anyone who lives in Toronto knows our monthly pass requires more then two trips a day to make the pass worthwhile). Despite all that, I showed up to work only two minutes late.

Sabina Love Friday, August 01, 2008 9:22 PM

Ever since I bought my Sabina bag , I haven't been able to stop looking at their other styles. It was my first leather bag purchase that wasn't thrifted or inherited. I love it to pieces and it's pretty much all I use anymore. Currently I'm pining over the above bag. I like how the handles are adjustable because I like my handles on the short side. And, well, it's yellow -- I don't think that needs further explanation.
