Déjà Vu, Part II
Saturday, June 07, 2008 1:14 AM
Several months ago, there was a skirt I was madly in love with from H&M. It was plaid and had the most interesting pocket detailing. However, it was unlined and so I bought its fully lined sister skirt, which had the same shape and pocket design, but came in a different colour and pattern.

Now Forever 21 is offering the same H&M plaid skirt. The pockets and the print are exactly the same. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the H&M skirt for comparison, but you can see the lovely Miss Woo rocking the H&M version here and here.
This is the second time I've noticed a H&M piece making its way to the racks of Forever 21. Is Forever 21 making H&M knock-offs? Or is this a mere coincidence -- I wouldn't be surprised if they use the same factories in China/India/Turkey/etc to produce their garments.

forever 21 makes knock offs of everyone! from anna sui to proenza schouler to urban outfitters and h&m.
its not coincidence, im pretty sure--who wouldnt want a near replica ("inspired by") of a designer piece for the fraction for the price? although that raises the question... why knock off urban outfitters and h&m when neither are expensive nor boast of luxury brand names?

That's exactly where my confusion lies if Forever 21 is knocking off H&M -- why? H&M themselves make knock-offs/"inspired" clothing.

It is. I've also seen a shirt I bought at H&M summer '04 at a Canadian high street shop about a year later.

I live in the US and there are a very limited number of H&M shops per state, however Forever21 has MANY shops around here. [:
As far as I can tell there's only one H&M in my state and they won't deliver (it's two hours away from where I live.) and I haven't found any Urban Outfitters at all.
Maybe they're partners, or enemies?

Perhaps, although I live in a city where the H&M and Forever 21 are directly across the street from each other.
