Blue Skirt
Monday, May 19, 2008 12:22 AM

Joe Fresh updated their website with their summer line a week or two ago. I wasn't too impressed with the collection (like with most summer collections), but I decided to stop by the Superstore to take a look during this Victoria Day weekend's 25% off regular priced merchandise sale (on until May 19th, so go go go!).
After shifting through the racks, I picked out a dress and a skirt not listed on their website. I asked a guy friend to decide between the two for me and he picked the skirt because I stated that I liked the shape of it (despite my reservations about the colour -- I didn't see it in another colour).

Since buying it I've been pondering what colour to wear on top other then white. I don't own anything like this shade of blue. I've been thinking of pale yellow and navy. Other suggestions?

Nice skirt, it reminds me of your grey H&M Skirt because of the front buttonts but the shape differs a bit.
I would say grey, pale pink, lilac, eggplant, mauve. I think that some intensive colors of the blue shade family would work as well, e.g. turquoise same goes for the purple color family.

I can't seem to resist skirts with buttons. Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll have to try some colour matching with those colours, but I'll likely stay away from purples because I'm not a purple fan (I know! It's your favourite colour, so I hope we can still be friends! ;) )

I think you could try with mustard. It's an adorable skirt by the way :-)

love the shape of the skirt but i must say its a bold choice of colour because it seems hard to find another colour to match it with.
i wld go with white (safe) and darker shades of gray and charcoal gray.

It is, isn't it? I looked all over the store, hoping that they had it in another colour. Thanks for the colour suggestions.

Not brown? I was looking at it against the mattress and I like the colours in the mattress with that skirt. And there's BROWN. Like a true see. Anyway, I don't think I look that good in red, at least when it's near my face :\

I think it could look great with grey or burgundy (but they'd have to be just the right tones). BTW - I was away this weekend or I would have got my ass there fast. A workmate of mine went late last week and came back with some purchases that looked quite nice on her. But, even when not on sale, this line is deliciously affordable. K

don't worry, we will be friends, if you don't like purple that means more purple for me ;)

Thanks for the suggestions, K. I agree, it has to be the right tones. The sale was nice, but you're right -- it's very affordable at regular price.

I do like the subtly distinctive color of the skirt. Black goes with everything, and it'll let the color do its thing. I think orange might work too.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll have to root through my closet to see what I have before buying some things that'll go with this hard to wear (for me) colour.

Delish color! A lot of good suggestions were left...was bright/rich pink mentioned? I think it'd also look great with some sort of nautically striped top, like white with navy blue stripes.
P.S. Your photog skills are so, so pro. :)

Ooh, pattern! That never even crossed my mind until now and I love patterns. You just opened a floodgate in my brain. Thanks!
