The Ol' Standby Friday, March 14, 2008 11:45 PM

White rabbit tee worn underneath: Argyle Centre (Hong Kong). Plaid dress: H&M. Necklaces: Moss Mills and Forever 21. Black wool footless tights: Club Monaco. Black moccasin booties: Aldo. Sunglasses: H&M.

This plaid dress is my standby dress. I love it to pieces. It's the dress I turn to when nothing else seems to work, whether it be for a specific occasion or on those days when nothing sits right on my body. What's your standby piece and/or outfit?

My favorite standby piece at the moment is probably my black straight-legged J Brand jeans. I was lucky enough to have snagged them for under $30 and I wear them all the time--they're comfortable, flattering, and go with practically anything. Tops vary, but right now I'd throw on anything gray to go with the black pants, and my favorite "Red Rocket Glare" necklace (self-made) tops it all off with a bit of color. As for footwear, it'll probably be either my red sneakers or red faux-patent flats.

Can't go on with keeping the clothes simple, then add a pop of color with accessories.

I'm loving your standby dress, it's so easy to wear but not boring. You can through it on and you will look fantastic in a minute.

Honestly I don't have a certain standby outfit, but if I do not know what to wear, I just through a grey or black easy dress on, that's it. Simple and easy but hopefully not boring yet. Pairing up with some tights and my black satin ballerina flats with a bow, they are so comfy and fits to everything.

I'd love to see your "Red Rocket Glare" necklace. Do you have a picture of it somewhere in your blog?

Aww, thank you! I guess I should stop being lazy and continue on the chain of blog tagging with this award and the last one you nominated me for. But I know know who to nominate other then you which seems silly since you nominated me! But thank you, I really feel honoured :)

It sounds like your ballerina bow flats are your standby piece ;) Anyway, your combination sounds like a never fail one!

That sounds like a great standby outfit -- simple and pulled together yet stylish.

To my surprise, I actually don't have a picture of it on my blog. But I did have one in my Etsy shop:

The only difference betweem mine and the one I sold is the length of the chain. Mine is much longer (pendant goes to about mid-chest) and it's oxidized--easy to just throw on.

Gorgeous! I love the star detail near the clasp.

You have some beautiful pieces in your shop.
