Shiny With Ruffles
Saturday, March 29, 2008 6:00 PM

When H&M came out with their satiny spring parkas, I was tempted. I'm glad I held out because I found my perfect satiny coat at a store inside First Markham Place. Best part is, I likely won't run into my coat twin on the streets of Toronto.
In the second photo you can see the wireless remote for my camera in my hand which I use to take all the selfotography pictures on this blog.

It's always nice to find something unique like that. I love the ruffles--cute but not your typical girly ruffles.
Remote is a nice touch...tricks of the trades revealed ;-) Much better than my timer. One picture I took was clear with the exception of the blurry bag, which swung when the shutter went off...oops!

Before I got the remote, the self-timer drove me nuts -- all that running back and forth when I was trying to take pictures for my now outdated Style Diary. Plus it was hard to focus my DSLR without having a person in front. I originally bought the remote so I could take slow shutter pictures, but now I use it mostly to take pictures of myself!

It was selling for $50 including taxes, but my mom talked the salesperson into giving me 10% off. First Markham Place is a Chinese mall. Most of the clothing stores buy clothes from Hong Kong to sell here. I don't know how much luck you'd have finding it in Germany :|

oh no, I won't have the chance to get any of the cool stuff from Hong Kong here in Germany, the Asian Community is still little not comparable with Canada or USA. I need to fly to Hong Kong... Cheap price for such a lovely coat. I'm a little bit jealous.

I would offer you a custom purchase, but I stopped by the store again and I didn't see my coat on their rack anymore :( The thing with these stores (unlike the ones in HK where they have a huge stock in the back) is that they carry very few of each item.

thanks for your offer, that's so sweet of you :) I guess it's not meant to be that I get my hands on this coat. At least I can see it on you :) Maybe next time I'm luckier.
Oh yeah, the markets in Hong Kong are huge, many items are repeated in several stores. I love their big range of clothes and very cheap!

I certainly miss shopping in Hong Kong! I guess the Chinese malls in Toronto are the next best things.

wow...such beautiful detail, I love it when I come across such individual quirky clothing, it's nice knowing that you won't bump into lots of people wearing the same thing :)

When I first spotted this and all its lovely details at the store, I pretty much couldn't tear myself away from it. Every five seconds I went back to finger the ruffles. I'm sure the salespeople had a laugh :)
