Swedish Simplicity
Friday, February 29, 2008 1:42 AM

When I think about the Swedes doing clean and simple right, Ikea comes to mind and so does the photography of Camilla Åkrans.
Even when working with a more complex set, Åkrans manages to find the simplicity in it and creates strong lines and shapes. There is a cinematic influence in some of her photography and I especially enjoy her film stills-esque work. I like the way she manipulates colours and lighting as well as her use of negative space.

I'm loving the pics. You're right, everytime when I'm thinking of Sweden, clean and simplicity comes to my mind and your Ikea remark is great. Who doesn't love Ikea? It's the furniture shop no.1 in a student's life :)

I was at Ikea on Monday. I loaded up on boxes in an attempt to clean / organize my closet...and I think I need many more boxes :)

I feel the same, and I'm not a beach person at all!
